Kindegarten News 8-20-18

Hello All!  We had a great 2 day week last week.  The students were so excited to be at school and were ready to learn.  I can't wait for this week to start so we can get to know each other better and get our routines in place.

Each week I will send out an email to let you know what's happening in our classroom.  I will cover curriculum, classroom events and school happenings..

Lunch and snack request:
Please be sure to send a separate drink in your child's lunchbox.  Some students just brought a water bottle and nothing for lunch.  When they have a separate drink it's less confusing for the students.  Also, I hope this week goes smoother and we get in our morning snack time. We are going to have a morning and afternoon snack each day.......good thing because they all were telling me how hungry they were around 9:30 am last week.  ðŸ˜€ðŸ˜€.   Thank you for sending in peanut and tree nut free snacks with your child.  That means everyone is safe during our snack time.

Letter of the Day
On Wednesday we will start the Letter of the Day.  We will start with letter A and go through the alphabet in order.  During our letter lessons we will be covering many different skills to hit all the different level learners in class.  The lessons will consistent of the following:
  • letter formation
  • line placement
  • letter recognition  (expressive and receptive)
  • letter sounds
  • sound spelling
  • sorting letters by curvy, straight and both
  • small group
  • large group
  • individual learning
Math:
We will be introducing postition words this week.  Some of the words include:  between, next to, above, below, under, top, bottom, beside

Getting to Know You!
We are starting Special Student this week.  Each student will have their "Special" day to be the Student of the Day.   We will learn their likes and dislikes and ask them about some of their favorite things.   I will be posting the Special Student pictures on FB each day.  Be on the look out!  :)

Character Calendar:
Please be sure to sign your child's calendar each day.  Thank  you!

Letter Days
Students will go to one of the following each day.  All students will need to wear their tennis shoes on PE days.  I'm including the link to the letter days calendar here
A:  PE
B:  Art

If at any time you have a question, please feel free to reach out by email or phone.  I'm happy to help any way I can.
