Kindergarten News 12-11-17

Hello Families!   I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend.  I know everyone is probably busy with the holidays right around the corner, but hopefully you enjoyed some down time.

Here's a look at the week ahead:

Homework:  Reading, sight words and Spelling City
DUE FRIDAY

Any student that doesn't finish the weekly homework at home will complete it in class on Friday.

Spelling/Sight Words:  WE  IS  MY   GOT  OUT  BIG
Test on Friday

Writer's Workshop:  We are finishing up the stories we've been working on to show the growth we've made since the beginning of the year.  I'm very proud of the great writing that's taking place.
Here are a few reminders for your children when they are writing at home:
  • Capital at the beginning of the sentence
  • spaces (this is a big one, they need many, many, many reminders)
  • lowercase letters
  • legible printing, forming letters correctly
  • sound spelling
  • story has a beginning, middle and end
  • stays on topic
We will spent the rest of the quarter assessing and doing fun holiday activities.  We will continue to explore in Play Workshop, Social Skill lessons, and STEM activities.  Any donations of blocks or Legos that are around your house not being used would be put to good use here in Kindergarten.

Upcoming Events:
12/19-Sappington Night at McDonald's (4:00-8:005904 South Lindbergh Blvd.)
12/19- Polar Express for Kindergarten-Wear your favorite holiday jammies
12/20-Winter Parties at 1:45-2:45
1/2-Sappington Blues Night at 7:00 PM
