Kindergarten News 9-11-17

Hello Parents!  I hope everyone had a great weekend.  It was a beautiful weekend to be outside.

Important:  This Wednesday is our first Early Release Day.  Students will be released at 10:50 AND 1:40. I received all Early Release forms and will go by that information all school year, so if something changes or has changed already, please let me ASAP.

Here’s a look at our week:

Sight Words:    THE CAN A     TEST THURSDAY

Homework:  Spelling City Sight Word practice   DUE:  THURSDAY
Please feel free to have your child explore more games and activities on Spelling City after they finish their assignments for the week.
Your child should be writing down the sight words on the weekly homework page.  Please DO NOT do this for them.

Letter of the Day:   We will talk about  Jj, Kk, Ll, & Mm this week.  We are learning to identify the capital and lowercase letters, sounds and letter formation.

Eckert's Field Trip:  Friday, September 15, 2017
Friday is our field trip to Eckert's.  If you are planning on joining us for the day, please arrive at school at 8:45 for the itinerary and to meet the students that will be in your group for the day.   After I go over everything you are free to leave and head to Eckert's so you can purchase your ticket and be ready to take your group when we arrive.
 Here are some reminders:
  • Please send your child with a sack lunch and 2 disposable water bottles marked with their name.
  • Dress your child appropriately for the weather, I will giving them a field trip shirt that they will be changing into when they arrive to school.
  • If you're taking your child home from Eckert's, please make sure the field trip shirt is returned on Monday.
  • Please apply sunscreen and have your child wear tennis shoes.

Important:
If you need bus transportation to or from school on Friday, please contact the office to find out bus stop times and locations.

Birthdays:  I know we have some birthdays coming up and wanted to give a reminder about Lindbergh Schools new food policy.  Students can no longer bring in food to celebrate.   Here are some ideas for your child’s special day:   bring in their favorite book (a book that can be read to the class in 10 minutes or less), birthday goody bags filled with non-food items, or small trinket for each student.   Your child will receive a crown, a coloring page and a birthday sticker.   If you have any questions about birthdays, please let me know.
