Kindergarten News 9-18-17

Thank you to all of the parents for your flexibility and understanding with the cancellation of our field trip last Friday.  It was great to see how well the students bounced back.  We had a great day and a fun one too.  I hope your child came home happy and excited about their day on Friday.

Here's a look at the week ahead:

Letter of the Day:     We are continuing our study of the letters of the alphabet.

Guided Reading:
I will be starting Guided Reading this week.  Some students will start bringing home books to read to your family.  Please sign the sheet inside the envelope after your child reads the book.  All books and envelopes should be returned the next school day.

In order for your child to start Guided Reading they must know 17 pairs of letters.  If they are still learning the letters, they will be placed in a Shared Reading group which focuses on letter identification.    I will be sending home a letter this week letting you know what reading level your child will begin the year.  If you have any questions, please let me know.
